OVERVIEW

Fixers is a digital tool that gives access to curated courses while providing direct communication channels with experienced professionals in the software industry. It provides fast and on point solutions without spending time on looking for an answer on web that might not even exist.

RESEARCH PROCESS

DEFINING THE PROBLEM/RESEARCH OBJECTIVES
Once we realized there was an opening in the market for this need of guidance about software related problems it became easy to define our problem and how we can provide a solution for it since as a team we all suffered from this situation. We targeted people that are between the ages 25-60 and familiar with software usage. Our main competitor was Udemy since they also offer courses but what made us unique was the fact that we will be providing a direct communication with the proffesionals that prepared the courses.

USER'S ASPECT

PERSONAS/USER JOURNEY/USER FLOW
After we identified the main issues we were able to prioritise who we would be focusing on in the early stages of the design by creating our personas. We used them constantly throughout the project to make important design decisions and create empathy amongst our users. We also crafted user journeys for each of our personas to enhance functionality which later helped us with creating some of the task flows.

DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

INITIAL SKETCHES/DESIGN SYSTEM/HI-FI WIREFRAMES
After creating some task flows we started sketching and deciding on the main design system. We wanted to use high fidelity wireframes to get a better result. We focused on establishing design principles that guide the overall look and feel of the app. These principles align with the brand identity and allow access to aspects such as simplicity, consistency, accessibility, and user-centered design. We have also created components for our design such as buttons, navigation bars, input fields, cards, and modals that are versatile, reusable, and customizable to accommodate different contexts and layouts.

USABILITY TESTING AND RESULTS

ADJUSTING DESIGN/RECONSINDERING FUNCTIONALITIES/CARD SORTING
I conducted user testing right after we have decided on the main decision for the design with the high fidelity wireframes that we created. The purpose of this usability testing was to find out more about the initial impressions, usage patterns, the effectiveness of the app and getting feedbacks and suggestions to improve the app. User were asked to take a general tour on the app, complete specific tasks do the card sorting to better organize the layout. The main problems with the app were tags since they weren't supposed to be interactive, search screen because nobody tapped on the search bar at the top of the screen which was actually why we placed the bar in the first place and watching a video screen. Therefore, I have decided to work on these issues as the next step.

FINAL PROTOTYPE

REVISING NAVIGATION/ADDING NEW SCREENS
After usability testing I have gathered some important insights. I started with redesigning the home screen. It is supposed to display more of the features we were offering so I have added different sections that will be engaging with the users. Next step was to add more features for the search screen. We used to have all the fixers and courses on the same search screen but after the card sorting I have decided to create a seperate page for fixers and courses to avoid confusion. I also used the tags as an interactive component since the users tried to tap on them I wanted to use it as a way to search for fixers and keywords. After this update, users can now tap on them and they will be directed to the search screen where they can see the proper results. I have also improved the watch a video screen. It has a more clear and consistent design. One of the most important changes that I have implemented was adding an explore screen for fixers and courses. It has made the design more user friendly and easy to navigate.
